Professional Summary

I am Jayati Vijaywargiya, currently a PhD scholar and Senior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Kerala, focusing on Airborne LiDAR Data from acquisition to application. It involves utilizing machine learning and deep learning techniques for knowledge extraction, development of comprehensive urban information schema with GIS integration, urban analysis and 3D visualization. My research interests encompass LiDAR, GIS, Remote Sensing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Geospatial Data Analytics, with a strong proficiency in Python, GIS tools, and use of LiDAR point clouds for GIS applications.
My professional experience includes serving as a Research Scientist at RRSC-C, NRSC, ISRO (Sep 2022-2023), and as a Research Consultant for Bhupraman Pvt. Ltd. since January 2021. Additionally, I interned at the Facility of Antiproton and Ion Research, GSI, Germany (Jun 2017 – Sep 2017). I have also worked as an Instructor and Content Developer at Spartificial Pvt. Ltd., designing and delivering workshops on satellite data science, astronomical data science, and Python for remote sensing.
I hold an MTech in Geoinformatics from IIST, graduating with a CGPA of 9.23 (Rank 1), where my thesis focused on Crop Phenology and Vegetation Dynamics using Big Geospatial Datacube. I also have a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from Mody University, where I graduated with a Gold Medal and a CGPA of 9.74, with a project on Diabetes Prognosis Using Machine Learning. Additionally, I have a Diploma in German Language.
My achievements include the ISPRS TIF grant award to attend ISPRS Geospatial Week 2023 in Egypt, Best Doctoral Colloquium at InGARSS 2023, and the Late Shri Pralhad P Chhabria Award for Meritorious Women Engineers by HFRC, IEEE WIE. I also received the Best Master Thesis Award at the state level and was the 1st runner-up at the All India level by IEEE-GRSS, Kerala.
I have published papers in reputable journals and conferences. Some notable works include "Information extraction system for urban planning and governance using LiDAR-based 3D repository," "Metamorphism of ALS Point Data for Multitude Applications," and "Crop Phenology Extraction Using Big Geospatial Datacube." My research contributions also cover areas like forest fire damage and recovery assessment, flood hazard mapping, and diabetes prognostication using machine learning.

I am actively involved in several professional organizations, enhancing my engagement with the scientific and engineering communities. I am a member of IEEE, specifically the Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS) and Women in Engineering (WIE). I have held leadership roles, including serving as the YP-WIE Chair for the MIGARS Conference (2022-23), IEEE GRSS Student Chair for the Kerala Section (2019-22), and IEEE Student Chapter Chair at Mody University (2016-18). My involvement extends to participating in ISRO outreach programs at prominent events such as the Indian Science Congress, International Science Festival, and various scientific literacy festivals, reflecting my commitment to promoting scientific knowledge and encouraging young professionals and women in engineering.
