Professional Summary


Dr. Xin Hong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Sustainability of the College of Natural and Health Sciences at Zayed University (Abu Dhabi campus). Prior to joining Zayed University, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow in ANAMED at Koc University (Turkey), an Adjunct Instructor at Kent State University (USA), and a Consultant in the NASA DEVELOP National Program (USA). Dr. Hong specializes in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial data analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) in image classification. Her current research focuses on the integrated application of geospatial technologies and AI in environmental pollution and digital archaeology. Her ongoing projects include mapping water bodies along the coastal area of Abu Dhabi using deep learning techniques on remote sensing images (funded by Zayed University), constructing an archival Anatolian atlas from a Turkey-wide set of aerial imagery (funded by Koc University), and mapping the cultural heritage for Central Anatolia.
