I have carried out PhD research work in Satellite Meteorology. Research work focused on
algorithm development and numerical modelling of earth observation measurements towards
improving weather forecasting & satellite data assimilation over tropical oceans.
Sea surface temperature & surface shortwave radiation algorithm were developed based on
Indian & ESA geostationary satellite system to derive datasets for accurate measurement of
upper ocean heat content of Indian Ocean and for improved understanding of its implications
on Indian summer monsoon, which has a direct impact on Indian subcontinent food security &
livelihood. Thereafter, worked on NASA project on algorithm and Radiative transfer modelling
of land surface temperature over United States derived from GOES-8/10 observations, for
development of land surface temperature earth system data record for an improved land surface
flux plug-in in land data assimilation system for more deterministic seasonal & decadal forecast
of climate.
In line worked on SACCAL project funded by BMBF, Germany for structural characterization
woodlands & vegetation cover distribution of South Africa for building climate adaptation
strategies. Presently working in a startup environment, integrating satellite (InSAR-emission
observations) with weather big data in an AI predictive analytics framework to deliver climate
risk analysis products in the energy & agriculture sector that can be included in financial &
ESG forecast solutions.
