Dr. K. Nagamani serves as an Assistant Professor (Research) and the Head of the Centre for Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics. She earned her PhD from the Institute for Ocean Management at Anna University, and her research focuses on key areas such as Coastal Zone Management, Forest Type Mapping, Water Resources, Land use and Land cover studies and Socio-Economic Assessment. Dr. Nagamani has been honored with a prestigious Department of Ocean Development Fellowship from the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Her extensive research contributions include more than 34 published papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals. She is also the author of one book on AI and machine learning methodology and has contributed 10 book chapters in the field of environmental science. Her work includes completing projects with NRDMS, NRSC, and DST, as well as various consultancy projects with BHAVINI, NIWE, and NRSC. Dr. Nagamani has led 11 conferences, workshops, and training programs as a Principal Investigator from various funding agencies such as MoES, NRDMS, and ISRO. She has also coordinated around 58 training programs at the center. Currently, Dr. Nagamani leads an ambitious project funded by CSIR titled “Towards Developing Near Real-Time Flash Flood Risk Monitoring Scheme over India.” Her career includes positions at the Institute of Remote Sensing, Anna University, the Forest Department in Chennai, and the Forest Survey of India in Dehradun. She was also chosen as the Nodal Centre (Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology) Coordinator by ISRO-IIRS to organize online events by IIRS-ISRO and Nodal Centre (Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology) Coordinator by ISRO START programs.
