Professional Summary
I am currently an assistant professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences / Applied Geoinformatics Research Group, Yarmouk University, Jordan. I received my PhD in Digital Imaging Systems from the Department of Geomatics Engineering, The University of Calgary, Canada, in July 2016. I completed my Master’s studies in hydrogeoinformatics at Al al-Bayt University, Jordan, in June 2007. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the same institute in August 2004. I’m involved in multidisciplinary applied research that addresses geomatics engineering problem solving using innovative techniques (GNSS measurements, LiDAR, Photogrammetry, multi-sensor systems). Research field of applications: structural and environmental monitoring, geohazard assessment and monitoring, water management. My current research interests focus on multi-sensor integration and data processing for UAV-based traditional and non-traditional mapping applications. Work and research interests have been centered on creating, examining, and testing efficient data acquisition methods for natural multi-hazards. I continue developing low-cost strategies using UAVs to create 3D GIS models of landslide-prone terrain. I applied my approaches to national and internationally funded
projects to contribute to Jordan’s archaeological preservation, restoration, and education.
I would like to continue to expand my understanding of UAV applications and push the boundaries of what is possible. I intend to apply my diverse range of experiences and educational background to continue to have an innovative practice that’s focused on professional and global collaboration with like-minded peers.
